What kind of fan are you?

Oh fandom!

Fan-ning is an interesting thing at HubPages.

The HubPages Help describes being a fan of another hubber as:

You can build your own Fan Club of loyal readers. It's an easy way to keep people connected with newly published Hubs. You can build your own Fan Club and join the Fan Clubs of fellow Hubbers.

Sometimes people are very willing to join someone's fan club. A nice comment on one of their own hubs from another hubber can be enough to warrant a Fan Club enlistment.

Some may see a good hub while browsing the archives or the latest hubs and join that author's Fan Club.

I have always been in between those two, leaning toward the second scenario. If someone leaves me a nice comment, I will most likely mosey on over to their profile and check out some of their own hubs. If I see something I like, if I consider their hubs useful and practical, then I will most likely join their Fan Club.

However, apparently many authors (especially the most successful hubbers) are extremely selective of picking their fans. In reading some of the Q&As in the HubStat e-mails, I was surprised to read that some of the hubbers choose wisely who they are fans of. I then realized I rarely seen them in many Fan Clubs... including mine. Haha.

I always considered it a little nod to the author when joining their Fan Club. Of course I am not even close to joining every Club I come across, but I like to think it might brighten a hubber's day a little more to have someone add to their following.

And why not do such a thing? It's not like it costs money to join. And it's not like you only have so many to give out. And usually joining a Club can mean more traffic to your own hubs.

I hope that everyone who finds a really good set of hubs will take the time to join the Fan Club. It's such a small and simple act, but I think it's a nice service that HubPages offers.

P.S. I do love how Patty Inglish, MS alerts hubbers that she has joined their Fan Club! Cute!

Being new around here and wanting to know a bit more about fan-clubs here at the hub, I really appreciate your thoughts.

It is also my feeling that as much as we can, we should support one another and never withhold that which we know should be given. Regardless of personal gain or not.

I enjoy letting someone know that I think what they are doing is great! This seems like a good way to do just that.

Thanks again,

tDMg

That was good advice thanks so much. I'm really new here and would like to get alot of new fans but I think its nice also if people join your fan club if they really like your writings. I'm a truck driver but I enjoy writing and reading for fun in my spare time. I think Hubpages is a wonderful outlet. I look forward to reading more from you. Have a nice day. Ron.

I very much agree with you. I will only join if I enjoy there hubs, but I will at least check out their content if they comment on mine. It's courteous and you never know what you're missing out on.
