This is so interesting. It reminds me of the verse in the bible which says God knows every single hair on your head.
Your last comment is wrong actually. Hair, skin cells, toenails all live and grow after death. Not long of course, but at least a day or 2, because there is still oxodized blood in the veins at the time, and the cells can still live off that, and then once the blood is drained of its oxygen, there is still glucose inside the cells themselves, then after that they all slowly die, but its not until then that they stop growing.

I was happy to read about the hairs on a human head question - I teach English to foreigners and often use a quiz that includes this question to practice talking about big numbers. Once I had a student who had actually scientifically calculated how many hairs were on his head by taking some sample sections and counting them - he worked it out at around 100,000 too (he was a singer in a band and was worried about going bald!). Interesting facts, thanks!
